International & Out of province applicants

 

In 2012-2013, 7.7% of the US students who applied in Canada were granted admission, and 4.6 % of non-US foreign applicants were granted admission. In comparison, 23.7% of Canadian applicants to the same medical school got accepted. Most schools in Canada have guidelines or quotas for the numberof out-of-province and international positions available. The two Canadian medical schools that do not favor in-province applicants over out-of-province applicants are Queen’s University and the University of Toronto.

University of Ottawa There is no quota for out-of-province applicants, but a different WGPA cutoff is set for out-ofprovince applicants to qualify for an interview. Once met, both in-province and out-of-province students compete for the same positions in the English programme None unless applicant is the child of a University of Ottawa, Faculty of Medicine alumnus
