Last night saw an exciting evening of celebration for the high flyers of the education world. Following the 2018 Education Investor Summit, the London Hilton in Park Lane was transformed to host the 6th Annual Education Investor Awards.
Dr Ash, Products & Services Director for theMSAG attended the event, as our representative. TheMSAG was nominated for the first time under the category of Digital Publisher of the Year. A testament to the huge amount of work that’s contributed to our free Online Interview Course, a fantastic new initiative to help students from all walks of life perform better at their medical school interviews.
Hosted by comedian and writer, Dominic Holland the awards ceremony got off to a raucous start. He took pleasure in pushing the buttons of the private tutors in the room, particularly, throwing a few jabs at the name of one company, Chelsea and Fulham tutors and the likelihood of it costing an arm and a leg for just one session with them. He couldn’t conclude his opening act, without reminding the audience of his new-found fame as the father of Tom Holland, aka Spider-Man (one of the latest additions to the Marvel superhero collection). He reminded us with great power (or fame) comes less responsibility, as he was quick to disown his other three sons and confirm that his eldest, the Hollywood marvel, Tom, was now his favourite!
After the opening act came the main event. A sense of tension and quiet anticipation came over the crowd of 400 attendees. Round after round of nominees and winners were announced with plenty of applause, laughter and smiles - it was a similar feeling to attending a university graduation. The occasional Punch and Judy-esque boos rang out across the ballroom as too much wine was consumed and the competition began to ramp up.
Thankfully no such antics occurred for the Digital Publisher of the Year award. That said, this time round, it was not to be. The award went to PG Online, a large educational publisher providing teaching materials across more than 70 countries.
Although this year, we were unsuccessful; our nomination is an indicator of the growing success of theMSAG. Now working with dozens of schools across the UK and supporting more students than ever before in their ambitions to become doctors of tomorrow, theMSAG is continuing to progress at lightning speed.
