The beauty of the MedSoc is that it is helpful from the start of your application right up to your medical school interviews.
For 2024 entry applicants- select 2024 from the drop down when purchasing. We recommend that you join the MedSoc before sessions start in February 2023 as we guide you through the whole application process.
For 2025 entry applicants - If you are keen to start your preparation early, select 2025 entry from the drop down when purchasing, and take advantage of joining sessions for two years instead of one.
How will the sessions be delivered?
For each session you sign up to you will receive a confirmation email with the Google Meet link. Please make sure you sign up in advance, make sure you have a working webcam and microphone, and come with pen and paper to make notes! All sessions are on Saturdays and Sundays between 12pm and 3pm UK time.
Who will deliver the sessions?
Our Doctors and medical students are hand-picked so that you get the most knowledge from the most experienced team, and our selection process is very granular. For example, a UCAT Quantitative Reasoning study session, will be led by team member that scored exceptionally well in the QR section of the UCAT. The same goes for every session type and topic, from application prep to interviews.
Preparing for your admissions exams, writing your Personal Statement and getting ready for interviews are all vital. A large number of sessions in the MedSoc focuses on these key areas to ensure you are ready and feeling confident. If you are preparing for the UCAT, BMAT or GAMSAT, we have scheduled group study sessions led by our expert tutor team who will give you the best tips and tricks on how to succeed.
Not sure where to start with your Personal Statement or struggling to articulate your thoughts? We have sessions to help you plan, write, and reflect effectively in your Personal Statement to ensure your strengths and experience come across in the best way possible.
As interview season approaches, it is important to plan ahead as much as possible. Make sure you join the interview course, then attend the interview focused MedSoc sessions which run bi-weekly, giving you the opportunity to practice your delivery skills. Consistent practice is key, and these sessions are the best way to ensure to get your practice in regularly with our support.
Dr Dibah Jiva will lead 60 sessions of the MedSoc to give you the best advice for your application, ensuring you have the information you need to help you apply to your chosen medical schools. Dr Jiva has been helping applicants get into medical school since 2007. With over 15 years experience, she is the leading expert in the industry who has planned helpful and insightful sessions for you to make the best decisions. Her sessions will include understanding the competition and how to build your profile, which is critical when you plan which schools you should apply to. A critical part of medicine interviews - and medicine in general - is staying on top of current topics. We have designed sessions that will start a discussion about topics that are relevant to medicine currently and in the near future. Our sessions will focus on debates, and appraising scientific journals, which are fantastic ways to build your knowledge and understanding of challenging themes in the field of medicine. Most medical schools will expect you to demonstrate you are in touch with the industry at interview, so make sure you join these invaluable sessions to really enhance your preparation.
Insights into Medicine
Gaining insights into the field of medicine is important so that you can talk about your motivation for medicine and how you can contribute to the field too. We have dedicated sessions on the different specialties which will be led by Doctors who practice in the field. If you want to know more about specialising as an Obstetrician, Anaesthetist, or Emergency Medicine Doctor, join these sessions to find out what is involved. We also have talks with current medical students, giving you the opportunity to learn about life as a student at a specific medical school you are interested in. These are great sessions to join as they will help you to answer the “Why this medical school?” interview question, and there will also be a Q&A at the end.
